I like the idea of 2 groups of 4 but would they be seeded or random draw?
Also I like option 3 for the post group stage. The final stages should be one game to the finish with penalties if needed. Venue to be drawn at random.
Oh yes, and group matches should be home and away.
We should start asap!
Hello? Is there anybody here?
'Can you hear me , Mother?'
To paraphrase:-
*An hour has passed since I wrote my note
I should have known it right from the start*
Sorry, you wrote 10 minutes after I left work and I had an appointment at the dentist's.
But hey, I can't make the decision on my own here, otherwise I would've done so already! Let's see what the others think. If they "don't think", then we'll do it that way, although I'd prefer lower ranked clubs getting the home venue in the knockout stages. We don't want to make it too easy on Hristo, do we? :D
Oh and we'll kick off on Saturday. I think I saw someone having a game arranged for Friday, so I'll honor his fixture.
I'm only joking chaos :)
(Like you, I wish some others would chuck their twopennorth in - but we'll wait and see)
OK I can go along with lower ranked club = at home for knockouts.
A Saturday start sounds fine.
Do you have any suggestions about the draw? Here's the teams:
Botev Plovdiv (36)
Chaos Shumen (136)
Liverpool City (148)
Volvo United (209)
Inter Milager (299)
Killamarsh FC (498)
Tomson Ramblers (589)
Burnthouse (4,177)
I don't know. Depends whether we prefer seeded or random. I'll go with the majority.
But, if it is seeded we should probably go alternate teams in each group,eg Group A = BP,LC, IM & TR. Group B = CS,VU,KF & B.
This way 1st seed is due to meet
4th seed and 2nd seed isdue to meet 3rd seed in the semis.
Didn't quite understand that*, so I'll post my own idea:
Two pots of 4 clubs:
- Pot A -
Botev Plovdiv (36)
Chaos Shumen (136)
Liverpool City (148)
Volvo United (209)
- Pot B -
Inter Milager (299)
Killamarsh FC (498)
Tomson Ramblers (589)
Burnthouse (4,177)
Then we draw two from pot A and two from pot B into group A and the remainder go in group B. As for the draw itself, I don't see any way of doing it "in public" so I'll guess you'll just have to trust me. With that in mind, if anyone has any complaints we'll go with the alternate picks you suggested.
* was going to explain what exactly I didn't understand, but had a second look and figured it out :)
Hi guys! Obviously I'm on holiday these days so access to internet is quite limited. Back to the topic.
I prefer groups in the first stage with option 3 for 2nd stage. Also I would like to introduce a new idea here. With one match in the groups stage (total ot 3 rounds) and higher ranked team playing away. I think it'll make the tournament more interesting despite me being forced to play only away matches.
What do you think?
Cheers
Hristoskov
P.S. I won't be able to post tonight so I'll agree whatever scenario is chosen.
I personally don't think 3 matches in the group stage is enough
Although, if that is what's agreed then higher rated team playing away is a good idea. (Let's face it Hristo, playing away probably won't make much difference to you!)
hi,
A bit late but. I vote for a group stage and than option 3 for the knockout.
About the draw.... That's a tough one.
What about:
Chaos Shumen (136)
Liverpool City (148)
Volvo United (209)
Tomson Ramblers (589)
Botev Plovdiv (36)
Inter Milager (299)
Killamarsh FC (498)
Burnthouse (4,177)
Both groups have 2 premiership teams and 2 other teams. Just a random pick from me.
ooh, darn he's posting my realname now. I am going to change that if I find out how.
At least it's me Boozer/Penguin
testing
I see what you mean Boozer but I'm not sure that the division a team is in is all that important. EG I your example I'd be 'expected' to come second in my group whereas a highr rated team in the other group would go out.
And do you prefer just 1 match in the group stage or home and away games?
Having thought about it, I think keeping Hristoskov and Hazie in different groups is the best scenario. Why? Given Hristo's class and Hazie's yet undeveloped team, it will be only down to who is second. While in the other group all 4 teams will be battling it out for promotion.
On the other hand, if they are in different groups, there will be 3 teams in both groups with similar chances of surpassing each other.
What do you guys think?
The 'alternate' method of group selection will cater for that, chaos. As I said before:
Group A = BP, LC, IM & TR. Group B = CS, VU, K & B.
Point taken pleasant and I don't mind. I'll just wait to see if there are other suggestions or complaints about this one.
So far, if nobody objects until around noon tomorrow, we'll have a group stage with home/away fixtures and then a single round separate direct eliminations phase for those place 1st and 2nd and for those 3rd and 4th with weaker teams at home.
Sounds fine to me chaos.
I'm OK with that :)
Okay, I assume there isn't going to be any complaints if there haven't been any thus far, so I've already made the groups the way pleasant suggested. Home and away legs it is.
Has anyone got any suggestions as to how to do the fixture draws or if you think it's not really important I'll do it myself.
It would be great if you could sort the fixtures out chaos. Thanks.
Whoever plays me and me bunch of newbie players will be getting an easy ride, so I don't mind who I play
Sounds just good to me:)
Yeaaah I won Hazie ;)
Sorry about the lousy table format, but I'm using Excel at home. At the office I have OpenOffice which I dislike in all other aspects, but it seemed to make far better tables when copying from it on here.
Oh, I won too 8)
Sorry for the delay in responding. I've had trouble with my ISP thingy since early afternoon.
No need at all to apologise at all chaos. Good work in my view!
While Ahne and I seem pretty dominant in our group, Figgis' draw with Hristoskov has made the other one quite intriguing. Had pleasant won it would've been even more interesting, but I'm sure Much won't let Lysen and Yates pull too ahead of him in the scorers chart.
Yeah group A will be interesting. Never thought Botev woul draw his last game. Now it will be a battle for the 2nd round!
Fast work chaos, well done!
I'm happy with the draw at Boozer's place! 2 must win games against Figgis coming up though.
Next round should be a very decisive one.
*****************
Group A
*****************
Inter - Tomson
Liverpool - Botev
If boozer manages a draw and pleasant and Figgis don't end all square, the group will be a total mess to predict! Isn't that what we all want :)
*****************
Group B
*****************
Volvo - Chaos
Killamarsh - Burnthouse
Top 2 and bottom 2 facing each other. Either Ahne or myself could pull clear at the top or draw and give wellings a chance to start catching up. A draw by Hazie and Wellings will be all but suicidal for their chances of fighting for 2nd.
Can't wait for tomorrow :)
You call me dominant??;)
can't we make a chat topic in the general manta forum? It's easier to chat, only hazie won't see it....
It's exactly because of Hazie that I thought writing here would be a better idea. But there's nothing wrong with making a topic in the Manta thread, so go ahead :)
Hehe!
We had to play 2 games in few hours with Figgis so I decided to rest a few players in the friendly and hide some of the aces for the league match!
Not dissapointed with the draw and looking forward to smash Boozer :)
Guys, quick question here! One of my defenders got a red card last match! The question is whether we should count this cards and my player will be suspended and if we count them how many matches I won't be able to use him?
Cheers!
No suspensions will be taken into account in this tournament, as is the case with the other major friendly competitions. I post the card stats just for information, not as a warning ;)
I knew my team would be the whipping boys this tournament!
Best give them extra half time oranges
Sorry I went all out on you Hazie, but I couldn't afford staying behind Ahne :) If win until our next meeting, I promise to use my utmost WORST in the return game ;)
Inter Milager 1 - 1 Tomson Ramblers
Bugger! I needed to win that one. Looks like Hristo and Boozer to qualify now.
Tell ME about a lousy result. 5 shots for Ahne - 3 goals (2 by a MF). 9 shots for me - 1 goal only!
Not happy with the lose either, I had hoped for a draw.
Now we all can qualify for the nexr round. Only 2 points difference between 2nd and 3rd/4th. Next game is again vs Botev and I am playing away, which will give me another lose. If one of you two win, you've passed me.
SO everything is open in group A.
AND CHAOS!! how the heck can you lose from Ahne, you roll up all those great mighty giants, but you lose against 'david', that a classic win for Ahne..
This tournament is weird :)
Just couldn't resist and wait for the update because...
Chaos 1-2 Volvo

Sorry guys, I'm in a state of mental disbelief and self-destructive (keyboard and mouse destructive) behavior, so I'm not likely to do the update today :(
Ahne, look what have you done to chaos? Shame on you!
P.S. Webby, why there is no  smiley???
Well it almost looks clear who will win those games. Hristo and Ahne will rule this place for now.
I still don't understand how Ahne beats Chaos.... Or is this a tactical game of chaos.
Thanks chaos. Good work!
So the first placed are decided in the groups. Ahne and Hristovkov, but the 2nd places are still open to grab for almost all teams. I think the winner of the game LC- TR will claim the 2nd place in our group. I had hoped for a win to claim the 2nd spot today, but pleasant managed to kick in a late goal with only 10 man on the pitch :(.
Nah. You've got it all wrong Boozer. I'm going to beat Hristo and you and Figgis are going to play out the draw. Et voila! Inter Milager go through. :)
And in any case - 'We flippin' murdered you' in the stats anyway.
Guys, I'm going to visit some relatives of mine and I'm going to spend the evening traveling and the weekend away from my PC. We have internet there, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to update the stats after tonight and tomorrow's games.
In either case, I'll post the direct elimination charts so they're more manageable and I'll try and fill in the teams tomorrow. That being said, THE DIRECT ELIMINATIONS PHASE WILL BEGIN ON SUNDAY!!! That way we won't have problems organizing the next batch of fixtures.
Good luck to everyone tonight ;)
Wow, that was a close finish.
Pleasant won vs hristovkov... I am glad I won aswell with 1-0, which keeps me up 2nd in the group.
Now I have to face Ahne in the semi's. lets see if I can beat him there. it will be a good practice, since we will meet next week in the league aswell.
Guys I'm off for the weekend but I have sent an invitation to chaos. Unfortunatelly I won't be able to do the lineup (no internet access) so I'm hope my caretaker will manage to beat him :-))
Hristo is so going to hate his sister :D
Maybe Hristov will hate her. I will love her for losing against Chaos! Since I managed to beat Chaos in the Finals.
I would never ever have beaten Hristov in the finals.
Not that I even have tough about winning the finals in anyway. So this is a huge surprize for me. I had hoped to survive the groupstage in the first place, which I did by a 1-0 win.
Chaos thanks for this tournament. I will join it again next season!! I have to defend the title afterall.
We wuz robbed off the title but we'll be back next season stronger than ever!
Well done Boozer! Cheers!
