The Championship - Just passing the half-way point

Well every team has played 21 games so far and the Championship looks like its going to have many contenders challenging to get into the Premiership. There's still plenty of games to go and many things could change from now till the end of the season. Let's look at some statistics for the teams in the championship. Here's a few:

Top Goalscorers:

  1. 38 goals scored by Karl Tilly (Norwood FC)
  2. 25 goals scored by Theodulf Lucius (Flair FC)
  3. 24 goals scored by Rory Bridges (Openshaw United)

Most Goals Scored:

  1. 49 goals (The Smoothies)
  2. 47 goals (Openshaw United)
  3. 47 goals (Splott United)

Least Goals Conceded

  1. 17 (Norwood FC)
  2. 20 (Openshaw United)
  3. 22 (Northbankhighbury)

The championship table hasn't changed that much since the last update but at the moment, after game 21 the top5 in the table looks like this:

  1. Openshaw United with 52 Points and a goal difference of +27
  2. The Smoothies with 49 Points and a goal difference of +26
  3. Northbankhighbury with 47 Points and a goal difference of +23
  4. Norwood FC with 46 Points and a goal difference of +28
  5. Splott United with 42 Points and a goal difference of +22

A season ago I was certain Splott would dominate the Championship on their way to the top, but it seems something went wrong along the way. None of the others in the top 5 surprise me and with a little more effort and goals by Tilly, Norwood should make it back to the Prem ;)

Chaos is right! I still consider Splott as the best non-premiership team and I don't know why he's not dominating the Championship! We'll see what will happen by the end of the season!
